July 26 Board Regular Meeting Agenda

-------------------------------------------------

The State of Michigan released its "Top to Bottom" report ranking the 3001 schools in the State of Michigan. The rankings are based upon student achievement data on statewide tests and student achievement improvement or decline over three years. The data is based upon reading and math test scores. In the ranking, #1 is the lowest (the one time no one wants to be #1) and #3001 is the best. In the rankings, Suttons Bay Middle School ranked 2482, which represents the 82.7%ile, meaning we did better than 82.7% of all the schools in the state. Suttons Bay High School ranked 2446, or 81.5%ile. Our Elementary ranked 1796, or 59.8%ile. What interested me is that while most of the top schools are also from the wealthiest districts that are funded at a much higher level, we outscored many of those wealthy districts. The complete list is available at the following link: www.michigan.gov/mde-schoolranking

On August 3, the primary election ballot will also include a proposal from SBPS for a millage to fund primarily technology for the School District. For information on the millage request, please click here.
